A short film festival is always a great way to experience different styles of filmmaking and this year, the 19th GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival is no exception. The festival has been running for almost two decades now and it’s one of the most prestigious festivals in South Korea.
The asiana international short film festival is a film festival that celebrates the best short films from around the world. This year, it will be held in Seoul at the end of September and will feature 20 short films.
The 19th GwangHwaMun International Short Film Festival, which will take held at Cinecube (Gwanghwamun) from October 14th to 19th, 2024 in Seoul, Korea, will include these twenty short films.

1. Cho Eun-2 ji’s Nights 3 Days – Korea | 2017 – 29 minutes Section 2: Old and New Films with a Focus on Korean Directors
To commemorate their second anniversary, Ji-eun visits her lover Min-home. kyu’s Min-kyu, on the other hand, tells her of their abrupt breakup. She couldn’t leave the location heartbroken, so she moved in with his family (GISFF 2024).
2. Section: International Competition 3 – As I Lay Dying by Zhang Zheng’An – China | 2024 – 20 minutes
Mengnan, a 30-year-old lady who had fled home to heal from her childhood trauma of being abused by her father, returns to her village on the night of the vigil after her father’s death. 3. Chuang Shiang An’s Asphyxia – Taiwan | 2024 – 22 minutes 5th International Competition Section
A burglary prompted a lady to seek assistance from her estranged husband without hesitation, and the robber was murdered in the process. The spouse becomes a hero in the eyes of the public overnight, yet he may also be guilty for his unintentional manslaughter. Was her husband’s conduct a defense or a harm to the woman? 4. Yannick Karcher’s Charon – France | 2024 – 16 minutes 8th International Competition Section
Fearing boredom would kill him, a newly retired man embarks on the insane ambition of constructing a boat in the basement of his suburban home (GISFF 2024).
5. Yoon Dae-Cicada woen’s – Korea | 2024 – 17 minutes Section 3 of the Korean Competition
Chang-hyeon, a transgender prostitute, meets a visitor who seems to be both familiar and strange to him (GISFF 2024).
6. Zachary Woods’ David – USA | 2024 – 12 minutes 3rd International Competition Section
David is in need of assistance. David feels the same way (GISFF 2024).
7. Rafael Manuel’s Filipiana – UK, Philippines | 2024 – 24 minutes 1st International Competition Section
The golf course’s self-contained universe mirrors social systems. Isabel, the new “tee girl,” is still learning the rules, but she’s already searching for ways to go around them (GISFF 2024).
8. An Sun-Ju-Bin young’s – Korea | 2024 – 20 minutes 1st Korean Competition Section
A junior high school student who studies till late every night at the academy. When everyone gets home, they strip down to their underwear and begin dancing (GISFF 2024).
9. Right Now by Jeong Ga-young – Korea | 2017 – 20 minutes Love Jo. Section 2: Old and New Films with a Focus on Korean Directors
Ga-Young wants to cast In-sung Jo, but there isn’t yet a plot (GISFF 2024).
10. Jude Kang’s May JEJU Day – Korea | 2024 – 14 minutes 1st Korean Competition Section
Shortly after the island of Jeju was liberated from Japanese colonial authority, an event dubbed “April 3” killed about one out of every ten individuals while under the administration of the US military government. The youngsters who survived the tragedy 70 years ago speak in this video (GISFF 2024).
